Women hold protest in front of Iranian Parliament

ICBHR: A number of women’s rights activists held a protest rally in front of parliament, Tehran, Iran.

The protesters called for a comprehensive law to prevent and prohibit violence against Iranian women.

“We want to rule to build safe houses and women’s support centers”, ISNA reported. “We also want governments to rule for dealing with domestic violence against women through a special unit”, the protesters wrote on banners.

In Iran, of all three married women, two women experienced domestic violence.
